The Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, Madras, was established in 1918 through the efforts of Mahatma Gandhi. Many branches of the Sabha were established in various provinces to promote the spread of Hindi in South India.
In 1970-71, a teacher training college was started in the Telangana region, but due to certain technical difficulties, the initiative was discontinued.
In 1984, the then Secretary, Sri Vemuri Anjaneya Sharma, under the guidance of former External Affairs Minister Sri P. V. Narasimha Rao, established a Teacher Training College (B.Ed.) in Hyderabad.
In the first academic session of 1984-85, 28 students were taken admission. From the following year, the intake was increased to 60 students. Subsequently, in 1989, the M.Ed. (postgraduate training course) was introduced, which further enhanced its academic standard.
In 2001, the one-year B.Ed. course was recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), permitting an intake of 60 students.
From 2004, the number of students was increased from 60 to 100 in Two Units (50+50).
From 2015, the B.Ed. program was converted into a two-year course. Since 2019, the two-year B.Ed. course has been recognized by NCTE Continuous order as per the prescribed intake capacity.
For the past 42 years, B.Ed. Training has been continuously running in Hyderabad with fully qualified and experienced faculty.
As part of the B.Ed. Training, students are provided with Micro Teaching, Macro Teaching, and Teaching practice in various schools established in Hyderabad City enabling them to acquire practical teaching experience.
Trained students from this institution have secured Government jobs in different states across the country.
